Aleks Maslakovs
Aleks Maslakovs was born in Daugavpils (Latvia) in 1985. At the age of 8 he received his first accordion lessons. At the age of 10, he was selected for the preliminary studies because of his talent. Aleks then studied accordion, conducting, arrangement and ensemble conducting with Valery Hodukin at the Daugavpils Music College (Latvia).
During his studies he was a laureate of several international competitions.
Among other things:
1999 - 1st prize "Baltika Harmonica" in St. Petersburg (Russia)
2000 - 1st prize "Talants Latvijai" in Riga (Latvia)
2002 - 1st prize "Citta di Castelfidardo" in Castelfidardo (Italy)
During this time, Aleks gained a lot of stage experience through appearances on Latvian television, at the reception of the Latvian President Vaira Vike Freiberga, participation in the concert program of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation in Moscow Kremlin and much more.
 
Aleks deepened his studies in accordion with Prof. Hugo Noth and Prof. Hans Maier at the "Hochschule für Musik Trossingen" (Germany). There he also studied piano, percussion and music theory.
 
In 2006, Alek's "Accordion Jazz Project D'ACCORD" founded a perfect platform for experimentation as a composer and arranger.
He presented his own compositions in jazz clubs such as Topos (Leverkusen), B-Flat (Berlin), Armer Konrad (Weinstadt) and others. as well as performances at the Jazzfestival 2011 in Regensburg, at the Jazznachwuchsfestival 2012 in Leipzig, at the Jazz Festival 2014 in Serres (France).
 
From 2014 Aleks played in "Open World Stage Workshop" band (Forum der Kulturen) in Stuttgart. In this project he worked together with Jorge Pardo, Theodosii Spassov, Sergey Starostin, Fuat Saka, Trilok Gurtu.

In 2014 Aleks produced his first CD "The Wave Of Inspiration" with Aleks Maslakov Accordion Jazz Project D'ACCORD. (Saxophone - Matthias Anton)
 
Together with his wife Lena, Aleks founded their private music school "Klangwerkhaus" in Hildrizhausen in 2018.
 
2022 - Jury member for piano and accordion at the International Mark Rothko Competition of Young performers of Modern music.
 
Since 2019 member and member of the world music band "LAKVAR". Performances with "LAKVAR":
2020 - CD release "Sabotage and Tradition" in Laboratorium Stuttgart
2022 - Concert Jazz Club BIX in Stuttgart
2022 - Summer Festival of Cultures in Stuttgart Radio broadcasts in Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany.
 
Since 2019 member of "GeoTrain" Appearances with "GeoTrain": 2019 - Red House in Berlin 2019 - "Folk Meets Blues" at Theatherhaus Stuttgart with Natia Todua (the Winner of "The Voice Of Germany" 2017) 2022 - Jazz Open Stuttgart with Natia Todua
 
2022 - Debut as percussionist in the project "Odysseus" with Bürgerchor Stuttgart and Marmaris

2013 - Master Class with Richard Galliano at the "Academie Musicale de Villecroze" (France)
2014 - 1st prize at the International Accordion Competition "Citta di Castelfidardo" in the Category "L" (light music) in Castelfidardo (Italy)
2015 - Workshop "Jazzinty" with Simone Zanchini in Novo Mesto (Slovenia)
2019 - 1st prize at the International Accordion Competition "Citta di Castelfidardo" in the category "Jazz" in Castelfidardo (Italy)
