Tango has a history of over 100 years. Originated in the suburbs of Montevideo and Buenos Aires, it had its heyday in the 30s to 50s.
From the 70s, Astor Piazzolla in particular fused the traditional tango with concert music and jazz with his compositions for bandoneon. The "Tango Nuevo" was born.
Tango Sentimental draws its variable rhythm and rich harmony from Tango Nuevo. The sheet music edition consists largely of compositions by Thomas Ott, as well as melodies from the classical repertoire, which he has impressively processed into Tango Nuevo.
