The title has two movements: an allegretto in three-quarter time and a rondo vivace - the structure of the main movement is similar to a classical sonata with two separate themes that are treated and extended in one transaction. It proceeds as usual in a reprise. The technical requirement of the rondo is very challenging. The piece has five opposed themes. The mostly tonal musical language is contemporary but not eccentric. The requirement of this title is not only the ability of expressing oneself but to be technically versatile on the bass manual and the treatment of the bellow (bellowshake); this can probably only be handled by advanced musicians.
Sonatina Modern Art is also highly qualified for assessments in senior class.
